Wetherspoons is closing several pubs across the UK and Ireland. Check out the full list of locations that may soon be bidding farewell to their loyal patrons.

London: Wetherspoons is shutting down several of its pubs in 2025. After selling some locations last year, more closures are on the horizon. Your favorite local might be on the chopping block.
Currently, two pubs are either for sale or under offer. If a sale falls through, those pubs could stay open. But it’s a waiting game for now.
So, why are these pubs closing? Sir Tim Martin, the founder, has reduced the number of pubs from 950 to about 800. He mentioned that Wetherspoons regularly reviews its locations to decide which ones to sell.
Most recent closures involve smaller, older venues or those near another Wetherspoons. Despite the closures, sales and profits are recovering post-pandemic, with record sales reported.
As for the pubs currently up for sale, there are two: Ivor Davies in Cardiff and The Quay in Poole. Only one pub is under offer right now, the Sir Daniel Arms in Swindon.
Recently closed pubs include The Knight’s Templar in London and The George in Wanstead, among many others. It’s a tough time for pub lovers.
On a brighter note, Wetherspoons is also opening new locations. They’re looking at sites in 130 towns and cities, with new pubs popping up in places like Euston Station and Heathrow Airport.
