Welling: It was a tough day for Welling United as they fell to a home defeat against Hampton & Richmond Borough. They started strong, but things changed after halftime.
In the first half, they played well, taking the lead early on. Josh Redfearn scored a nice goal after a great cross from Daniel Martin. But injuries were a big issue. Sam Cornish was out, and when Anthony Grant had to leave the game, it really hurt their chances.
Hampton took advantage of Welling’s struggles. They equalized with a header from Mauro Vilhete, and then took the lead with another goal shortly after. Welling tried to fight back, but it just wasn’t their day.
In the end, they almost snatched a point in stoppage time, but a shot from Sahid Kamara went just wide. Now, the team has to regroup and prepare for their next match against Boreham Wood. Fingers crossed they can bounce back!
