London: You wouldn’t usually think of the Tube as a pretty place, but South Kensington station is changing that. It’s got this lovely little flower garden that makes it feel more like a garden centre than a typical Tube stop.

In recent years, there have been some cool projects to add a bit of beauty to the Underground. For instance, Art on the Underground has been putting up contemporary artworks, including those fun labyrinth mazes you see at every station.

But South Kensington really stands out. On the District and Circle line platform, staff have created a charming flower garden that you can see from the train or while waiting on the platform.

During summer, the flowers bloom beautifully, adding a splash of color to the otherwise grey station. Commuters get a little escape from the city’s hustle and bustle every day.

You can check out the garden at the east end of the above-ground platform, where flowers even peek out from watering cans. It’s such a cute touch!

And guess what? South Kensington isn’t the only station with a green space. There are nine ‘Tiny Parks’ at other stations like St James’ Park and Belsize Park, featuring glass terrariums.

These Tiny Parks have been around since 2016, thanks to a collaboration between a design studio called The Edible Bus Stop and TfL.

According to The Edible Bus Stop, these parks are all about creating free, accessible spaces for people to enjoy. They help connect commuters and make the journey a bit more delightful.

So, next time you’re rushing through London on the Tube, take a moment to look around. You might just spot some flowers or art that you’ve never noticed before!
