A stalker has been banned from a college after harassing a student. He claimed they would have a big wedding in Nottingham, causing her significant distress.

Ali followed her around, saying things like “I love you darling.” He even messaged her sister about wanting to marry her. This behavior went on for six months, which is just too long.
He showed up at her college and wouldn’t leave her alone. After being in custody for six months, he was warned to stay away from her or face more jail time. The judge made it clear that stalking is serious and causes real distress.
The prosecutor shared that Ali first approached the victim in a café back in December 2023. He tried to get her name and later messaged her, but she told him she was happy with her boyfriend. He just wouldn’t take no for an answer.
In April 2024, he approached her and her sister, insisting he loved her. She asked him to leave her alone, but he kept trying to contact her. Eventually, the police got involved, and he was arrested.
Ali pleaded guilty to stalking and has no prior convictions. His lawyer said he found prison tough and just wanted to see his family. The judge gave him a suspended sentence, ordered him to attend rehabilitation sessions, and put a 10-year restraining order in place. He can’t contact the victim or go near her college.
