New crime stats show Richmond upon Thames is the safest borough in London. Kingston and Sutton follow closely behind, making for a safer city overall.

London: The Metropolitan Police just released new crime stats for 2024. They show which boroughs are the safest in the city.
Richmond upon Thames came out on top. It had 12,113 incidents, which is about 60.7 crimes per 1,000 people. That’s pretty impressive!
In Richmond, theft was the most common crime, with 3,231 cases. Violence against a person followed closely with 3,011 incidents.
Kingston upon Thames was the second safest borough. It recorded 11,155 offences, averaging 62.1 per 1,000 residents. Again, theft and violence were the main issues.
Sutton took the third spot. It had 13,054 incidents, which is 62.9 per 1,000 people. Interestingly, there were more reports of violence than theft here.
Harrow and Merton rounded out the top five. Harrow had 16,475 offences, while Merton recorded 13,817. Both boroughs also saw a mix of theft and violence.
