London: Security guards at some of the city’s biggest museums are asking folks to stay away. They’re planning a strike throughout February, and it’s going to be a big deal.

About 100 workers from the United Voices of the World union are involved. They work at the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, and V&A Museum. They want better pay and working conditions.

The union calls this strike “unprecedented.” It’s the longest strike in the history of these museums. The workers are outsourced to a private security company, Wilson James.

They’re asking for a pay raise, better sick pay, and equal treatment with museum staff. They also want more annual leave and bonuses to match permanent employees.

The union is asking the public to support them by not visiting the museums during the strike. This will also impact the London Science Museum.

Bayo Owolawbi, a security guard and union rep, expressed frustration. He said they’ve been ignored for too long but remain strong and united in their fight for justice.

In a twist, security guards at the Young V&A Museum and V&A East Museum have joined the strike. They’ve already walked out in January, October, and December.

Wilson James has been contacted for a comment, but no response has been received yet.
