Families of Nottingham attack victims are holding a press conference today. They’re reacting to a shocking NHS report on the mental health care of the killer.

The report was ordered after Calocane was sentenced last year. He killed three people in brutal attacks on June 13, 2023. The families of Ian, Barnaby, and Grace will share their thoughts in London this morning.
The report looks at how Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust handled Calocane’s case. It covers his first contact with mental health services back in May 2020. The Care Quality Commission also reviewed the trust and found troubling issues.
Before the press conference, the families expressed their anger. They said the report shows “widespread systemic failure.” Emma Webber, Barnaby’s mother, called it a ‘horror show.’ They want a public inquiry into the killings, as promised by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
The families believe this inquiry should be statutory. This means it could force witnesses to testify under oath. They stated, “The Government must keep its citizens safe. The previous Government failed Grace, Barnaby, and Ian.”
They raised serious concerns about how organizations missed the risks Calocane posed. He was allowed to roam free and commit these terrible acts. They’re fighting for justice, accountability, and better mental health care for everyone.
