NatWest is set to shut down five branches in Nottinghamshire soon. This move reflects a growing trend towards online banking among customers.

Nottingham: NatWest is closing five branches in Nottinghamshire soon. They say more folks are banking online these days. It’s a big shift, and they’re not alone in this trend.
They’ve noticed a huge drop in counter transactions. In fact, there’s been a 62% decrease since late 2019. Meanwhile, mobile app usage has shot up by 53%. It’s clear people prefer digital banking.
Here’s the rundown of the branches closing and their dates: Basford on May 21, Mansfield on June 26, Newark on June 17, West Bridgford on June 24, and Worksop on June 18.
A NatWest spokesperson mentioned that over 80% of their customers now use digital services. They’re investing over £20 million this year to enhance customer service and reduce their environmental footprint.
They’re also aware that some customers, especially the elderly, might struggle with this change. So, they’re reaching out to help them transition smoothly. Last year, they made over 200,000 calls to offer support.
They want to ensure everyone feels comfortable with digital banking. Plus, they have experts available for anyone needing guidance.
