London: The Metropolitan Police has recently apologized for their investigation into the death of drag artist Heklina. Heklina, whose real name was Steven Grygelko, was found dead in his flat in Soho Square on April 3, 2023.

His friend, Joshua Grannell, discovered him and has been vocal about his frustration. He felt it took far too long for the police to make a public appeal for information.

Grannell, known as Peaches Christ, expressed anger that the police didn’t keep him or Heklina’s family updated. He said they promised regular updates but then went silent for months.

He recalled how he was assured that a family liaison officer would keep them informed. Instead, he felt completely ignored by the police.

After Heklina’s death, Grannell shared his shock on social media, describing it as a nightmare. He was in London for their drag show, Mommie Queerest, when he found his friend.

He mentioned that the door to their flat was not locked and seemed ajar when he arrived. This raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding Heklina’s death.

The police have released CCTV footage of three men they want to speak to regarding the case. They acknowledged the frustration of Heklina’s family and promised to improve communication moving forward.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah stated they appreciate the concerns and are taking steps to address the issues raised. The investigation is ongoing, and they are treating the death as unexpected.
