Protesters gather in London to demand an end to violence in Palestine despite police restrictions

The protest kicks off at noon in Whitehall, and there’s a counter-protest happening nearby on Horse Guards Avenue. A spokesperson for the campaign emphasized the need to march for several reasons, including stopping arms sales to Israel and ending British support for what they see as genocide and apartheid.
Originally, the protest was supposed to start at Portland Place, right by the BBC. But the Metropolitan Police stepped in, saying it was too close to a synagogue and could disrupt Shabbat services. They’ve deployed over 1,100 officers today, with some coming from other areas, to keep things in check around the BBC and nearby streets.
Stay tuned for live updates on the march as it unfolds today!
