The trial of Joshua Michals, accused of murdering Zhe Wang, is set to start soon as the jury has been sworn in at Woolwich Crown Court

London: A tragic incident unfolded last year when Zhe Wang, a 31-year-old student from China, was found injured in a flat on Manor Park. This happened on March 20, and it was a shocking event for everyone involved.
The police had to break into the flat around 11:15 PM after getting reports of a stabbing. Sadly, Zhe passed away shortly after they arrived.
Now, Joshua Michals, a 24-year-old from the US living in Deals Gateway, is facing charges for her murder. He appeared in Woolwich Crown Court on January 13, where he pleaded not guilty.
Michals looked quite formal in a blue suit and tie, sitting in the dock as the jury of 12 was sworn in. The judge, Nicholas Heathcote Williams KC, informed the jury that the trial would officially kick off on Wednesday.
He mentioned that they wouldn’t be ready to discuss the case just yet, so the jury was asked to return at 10 AM on Wednesday for the prosecution’s opening statement.
Zhe’s department at Goldsmiths described her as a “wonderful student” who was full of life. Her family shared how kind and gentle she was, highlighting her talent in languages, as she spoke five fluently.
They expressed their deep love and loss, mentioning how she was engaged in teaching IELTS and had made a significant impact on her students back in China. Zhe had dreams and aspirations, and her family believes she cherished her time at the University of London.
