Eltham: Daniel Bryan, a 30-year-old from Stofield Gardens, got a hefty sentence. He was found guilty of a firearms offense on January 31.

It all started on July 30, 2024, when police noticed a suspicious car. It was moving from Brixton to Kent in the early hours.

They tracked it down to Ashford Road in Maidstone. Bryan was one of the two people detained.

When officers searched him, they found a gun hidden in his sock. It was tucked under his jogging bottoms.

The police seized the weapon and arrested Bryan. Tests later showed it was a modified starter pistol that could fire live rounds.

He was charged with having a prohibited firearm. Even though he pleaded not guilty, the jury convicted him at Maidstone Crown Court.

In the end, Bryan received a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence. Detective Constable Stuart Drakeley commented on the case.

He said the starter pistol was altered to be dangerous. It could have caused serious harm if used in a crime.

Drakeley emphasized that Bryan had no legal reason to carry it. He believes it’s right that Bryan is now behind bars.

He also mentioned that there’s no room for illegal guns in Kent. Police will keep targeting those who break the law.

Anyone caught can expect a long prison term.
