Exciting plans are underway to transform old toilets near Oxford Street into a trendy bar. This change comes after the site has been closed since 2021, with little interest in its previous use.

London: The old public toilets near Oxford Street are getting a makeover. They’ve been closed since 2021, and now they’re set to become a bar.
These toilets were shut down after facing issues like flooding. Since then, they’ve been up for grabs for different uses, but no one seemed interested.
A recent council meeting approved the plan to turn them into a bar. The new spot will be open seven days a week, from 11 am to 11 pm, and will hold up to 34 people at a time.
Claire Clark, who represents the applicant, said this change will bring life back to the area. The council had been trying to get rid of the toilets for years, as they were seen as unnecessary.
Before the pandemic, only about 16,000 people used these toilets each year. That’s not enough to keep them running, according to the council.
Some council members raised concerns about safety and design. They discussed issues like fire safety and the removal of a canopy that some found attractive.
Despite these concerns, the proposal was approved. This isn’t the first time public toilets have been turned into bars; it’s becoming a trend in London.
