Dartford Council is planning significant changes to improve safety on High Street. Residents can share their thoughts on these proposals to create a better environment for everyone.

Dartford: With around 20,000 visitors on busy days, safety is a big deal. The council is stepping up to make things better for pedestrians and drivers alike.
They’re looking to reduce vehicle access and boost pedestrian areas. Residents can check out the proposals and share their opinions online.
Some ideas include new Traffic Regulation Orders and using cameras to monitor traffic. They want to keep the High Street and Lowfield Street safe and manageable.
Bollards will be set up at key spots to control vehicle access. This way, only authorized vehicles can enter, and the area can be secured when needed.
Plus, they’re planning to create ‘streateries’ for outdoor dining and expand events to make the High Street more inviting. Sounds fun, right?
To keep traffic flowing, authorized vehicles will only go one way on High Street. There will be a single entry point at Market Street, with exits on Hythe and Lowfield Streets.
Businesses in Market Place will still get deliveries from designated spots. Iceland will keep its access from Market Street, so no worries there.
The council believes these changes will make the area safer and more enjoyable. They want to encourage walking and cycling while supporting local shops.
