Activists express deep concern over Trump’s presidency and its impact on climate action

London: Environmentalists are really worried after Donald Trump was inaugurated as President again. They gathered to voice their fears about the planet’s future.
Protesters showed up in Westminster and Whitehall, alarmed by Trump’s plans. He’s all about drilling and even pulled the US out of the Paris Accord, joining a few other nations in that decision.
Phil Thornhill from Campaign Against Climate Change put up a banner by Westminster Bridge to make their message clear. Friends of the Earth and other groups joined in, feeling that this moment is pretty sobering for those who care about a peaceful and healthy planet.
They believe Trump’s return is giving a boost to climate denial, especially with wildfires raging in Los Angeles right now, which are fueled by climate change.
Jamie Peters, from Friends of the Earth, spoke out against Trump’s divisive politics and climate denial. He emphasized the need for unity among marginalized groups that Trump often targets.
He pointed out that 2024 saw devastating weather events, and things are only expected to get worse. There’s a real need for global cooperation to prevent further climate breakdown.
A spokesperson from Friends of the Earth urged everyone not to give in to fear and division. Instead, they should focus on climate and social justice, especially now.
They stressed that countries like the UK need to lead the way in uniting the international community for transformative climate action that benefits everyone.
