A tragic incident unfolded in Sutton as a mother shopped while her four sons died in a house fire. The heartbreaking negligence has left the family and community in shock.

The fire broke out on December 16, 2021. The boys, aged four and three, were trapped inside. It’s believed the fire started from a candle or a cigarette in their messy living room.
A neighbor saw the flames and tried to help. But by the time they got to the house, it was too late. The children had locked themselves in an upstairs bedroom, unable to escape the smoke.
Firefighters found them unconscious and rushed them to the hospital. Sadly, they all died from smoke inhalation. Their grandmother expressed the family’s deep sorrow over the loss.
Deveca Rose returned home to find the house ablaze. She claimed a babysitter named ‘Jade’ was watching the kids. However, no one could confirm Jade’s existence.
Detectives found no evidence of this babysitter. Rose’s phone records showed no contact with anyone named Jade. It seemed she made up the story to avoid responsibility.
The investigation revealed that Rose prioritized her shopping over her children’s safety. If she had been home, she might have saved them. The community is left mourning this tragic loss.
