Bulwell: Residents are feeling a bit on edge lately. The police recently took action against anti-social behaviour, and it’s got everyone talking. They removed eight people from the streets during a special operation.

This operation was backed by two dispersal orders. These orders let officers send people away from certain areas and even take them home if needed. Over a few days, they issued five leave orders and sent three young folks back home.

But locals say this isn’t a new problem. Vikki, 27, mentioned how unpleasant it is to see begging while just trying to shop. She’s noticed young people zooming around on e-scooters, wearing balaclavas, which makes her uneasy.

Another resident, Amanda, 67, isn’t so sure the orders will help long-term. She’s seen begging around for ages and thinks the aggressive behaviour won’t just disappear. “They’ll be back out soon enough,” she said.

A pawn shop worker shared that they haven’t had issues lately, but she’s seen teens causing trouble, like throwing eggs. A butcher nearby said they’ve noticed beggars but haven’t had many problems since they close early.

The dispersal orders covered a good chunk of Bulwell, and Inspector Paul Ferguson from Nottinghamshire Police said they’re aware of the rising issues. He emphasized that this behaviour is unacceptable and they’ll keep taking action.

Overall, the police feel this operation was a success and are ready to do it again if needed. But for now, residents are left hoping for a more peaceful environment.
