Blackheath’s second-half surge led to a decisive 51-26 win against Birmingham Moseley in National League One

Jake Hennessey kicked things off with a try after a great pass from Tom Ffitch. Then, Ffitch sent a crossfield kick that Andy Boye powered over for another try. They were on fire!
Jake Lloyd also got in on the action, and Jordan Burns finished it off after a break from Ffitch. With Ffitch nailing all four conversions and a penalty, they were up by 30 points with 63 minutes gone.
The defense was much tighter in the second half, with Josh Smart making some big tackles. Even debutant Ollie Kitto had a thunderous hit on the left wing.
Moseley did manage to score a consolation try late in the game, but it was all Blackheath for most of the match. They started strong with Billy Harding scoring first, and Ffitch added a penalty.
Moseley had their moments too, with some solid tries, but Harding’s second try just before halftime set the stage for Blackheath’s comeback.
James Shanahan, the director of rugby, was pleased with the attack but emphasized the need for better defense. They really stepped it up after halftime, and Ffitch was a standout player with his kicking and game management.
Next up, Blackheath heads north to face Darlington Mowden Park, a team they’ve struggled against in the past. Their next home game is against Plymouth Albion on February 8.
